Up for sale are some young Hongi Island cichlids. Currently have only a few young juveniles left that are about 4.5-5.5cm and asking $5 each). Please note I don't sell males or females alone - you will get a random assortment.

Hongi's are a classic cichlid, with males known for their strong red-orange colouration on the dorsal fin, which can extend onto the head. The colour of males is predominantly a white, which also has a very faint purple tone. They also have a light vertical black barring across the body, with numerous egg spots on the anal and dorsal fins. Females are a brown tone, with a more dull orange tone on the dorsal, anal and caudal fins.

If you're looking to add a fish with some contrasty colours, then Hongis will suit your tank. Their orange and bright white tone makes for a very bright fish compared to many predominantly dark tone fish such as Pseudotropheus and Cynotilapia species. This can be advantage in low light tanks, where minimal light is still capable of allowing the colours of fish to be viewable to the aquarist as darker fish generally require more light to be seen easily.
Check out the other fish I have for sale. All photos are of my fish.
