In 2008 we expect to be struggling all year due to an increase in homeless guinea pigs in Australia. Guinea pigs are irresponsibly overbred and then sold or dumped, regularly bred to supply petshops or sold for profit, bred just for the sake of it and changes in society including rental issues are also a cause of the homeless guinea pig situation. ACS has recently opened two more shelters due to the rise in homeless guinea pigs and already within weeks of opening their doors our other shelters are struggling with high numbers of rescues/surrenders.

Adoption is a very rewarding and worthwhile process for both yourself and your special new family members. Help give a homeless guinea pig a home! Rather than breeding or buying from a petshop if you are looking for a guinea pig please consider adoption through the shelter system their is nothing more rewarding than being able to adopt and give a homeless guinea pig a special place in your family.

Please read entire ad content and our adoption terms and duty of care on the website before contacting us we know it's quite a read but we have adoption terms that need to be read and agreed to before visits to the shelters to adopt can take place. Phone or email enquiries regarding guinea pig care etc are more than welcome.

About Us - The Australian Cavy Sanctuary is a completely non funded and non profit community purpose organisation run by dedicated volunteers and shelter managers who maintain their own shelters which cater large-scale for many homeless guinea pigs. All shelter managers have many years of experience in guinea pig care and knowledge.

Quality LARGE Custom made cages also available on request and available at wholesale prices - Between $60-$100 for large 1.3m long hutches on stilts or on the ground with an enclosed end. ( Pick-Up from Ipswich area ).

All guinea pigs have been quarantined, internal and external mite treated and wormed and are 100% healthy. The guinea pigs are $15 each and come with an adoption certificate.

- Polar ( cinnamon agouti rex )

- Snowball ( baby white abbysinnian cross )

- Corduroy and Ruxbin

- Miley ( gold abbysinnian boy )

- 4 babies (two boars/two sows) available for adoption within 2 weeks

Holds can be placed for up to 2 weeks on guinea pigs if you need to plan for your new piggy family or want advice about preparing for the new additions first.
